desegregation commem will be an utter failure

I predict the hideous "2007-P Little Rock School Desegregation" coin will be the worst commemorative failure ever.

The design is a bunch of feet. Oh joy, a bunch of feet.

What's next, a coin commemorating the legalization of infanticide by Roe V Wade? Yet another stroke of arrogant federal judicial fiat, negating state's rights and long established social customs and laws.

I would rather have a lead slug.

The only silver lining is that they will probably resell for less than spot, thereby offering melting opportunities for savvy bullionatics.

No doubt Morris Dees will try and buy the list of buyers from the Mint, and then send them direct mail solicitations for donations to his hundred-million-dollar SPLC endowment.

That is so racist, Anty Ep. I cannot beleive you would write such a thing.

Just kidding. I don't know about it being the worst commem, but certainly I did not place my order, and I will not unless, as you say the value drops down towards spot.

I still prefer 19th and early 20th century commems.

The mint designers today have no imagination to capture jack squat!

I wonder if they will ever run out of crap to commemorate? Maybe mint a blank design with the phrase, "on this date nothing happened"."

It would probably outsell this commem.

I think one of the nicest modern day commemorative coins is the 1992 Columbus Quincentenary Half Dollar. Not made of Silver though.

I'll Be buying them later though...

I like the idea of a modern silver dollar that meets the same specs as the Peace or Morgan dollar.:coolbeer:

I think the commems do meet those specs.

That Columbus design is nice too; except notice the absence of a cross. Really what they should have there is one of those spear-crucifix thingees. Columbus was a very devout Roman Catholic.

Or course neither the atheists, Hebrews, nor "indigenous advocates" would have liked that so they left it out.
